What is specialty milling?
Specialty milling differs from normal milling (removal of one or more layers of concrete or asphalt by mechanical means or high-pressure water jetting)
as it has three characteristics not offered by traditional or hydrodemolition systems, including:
1. depth precision of +/- 5 mm, permitting an exact calculation of the quantity of grout needed to restore the surface, therefore substantial
cost savings due also to the evenness of the surface.
2. high productivity, intended as a highly reduced time for job completion
3. an even and perfect gripping surface that favors the application of the new layer of grout, and as a result the durability of the
repair.
The GTF system featuring high power and sophisticated proprietary software that controls the hydraulic system achieves all three of the above
conditions to perform specialty milling.
Specialty milling performed with the GTF system delivers impressive output, as well as ensures
extreme precision along long and/or curved sections, such as tunnel linings. Specialty milling performed with the GTF system also gives excellent results
in applications above ground, for example when having to lower and demolish kerbs along bridges and viaducts.
The GTF system is based on machines with high hydraulic power, structural strength and extreme reliability. Compared to other milling methods, such
as hydro-demolition or equipment mounted on standard earthmoving machines, the GTF system offers significant advantages in terms of logistics, use of site personnel, safety and general work site costs.
