The GTF 600 RC is in action excavating tunnel number 3 (400 m in length) of the Ferrovie Appulo Lucane at the Modugno railway station. The job is part of a large project to place the station underground for a length of about 2 km and involves excavating a square section contained within piles at left and micropiles at right of the excavation. The rock mass is made up of Bari limestone interspersed with clay lenses alternated with layers of dolomite noted for its extreme hardness and abrasiveness. Production output averaged 4 m per day (with two shifts).
